Day 14 of my recovery ... I went to see my surgeon for my week 2 check up. Everything is still healing as it should. It's just going to take a while to heal and gain my strength back. I do daily stretches to keep everything moving but I am limited. This will get better everyday though. I have cut back on pain meds by half which is a great sign of improvement.
Geez just looking back to where I was last week compared to this week. I am sleeping in my bed again and able to lift my head. Last week at this time I had trouble holding my head up because it's attached to our chest muscles. And yesterday I was peeling peppers :) My arms tire really easy though and this is because I am retraining my chest muscles so little by little everyday.
So lets get to the good part ... it's been 2 weeks and as promised my pathology results were available today.
My pathology report showed "everything benign with deep clear margins!!" The words I wanted to hear "NED!" Can you believe it?!?! I can't say it or type it without tearing up. Stage iv metastatic breast cancer is back in REMISSION!! WooF*%&$@*hoo! We did it!! :)
I am living proof to never give up on hope, keep a positive mind and pray however you pray. Thank you to Dr Sorcinelli at Yale and Dr Sanford at Sloan for having hope from the very beginning for me. And to think the 2nd oncologist I got an opinion from at Dana Farber would not have treated me but kept me comfortable for whatever time I have left. Could you imagine if I went with his recommendation? Insane! People PLEASE always make sure you have a Dr who has hope and the strength to fight with you and make sure to always keep a positive mind. Even when you have bad thoughts, fight through them and find positive thoughts and surround yourself with people who have positive thoughts and strength to stand with you, like TEAMLISA does for me!
Celebrate tonight TEAMLISA, we kicked cancers ass!!! Cheers!! <3

I'm going to have my sternum removed due to stage 4 cancer. We've tried chemo for 2 years but it hasn't touched it. Any advice you can't give is greatly appreciated.

Hi Rissa, you're going to be ok. The whole sternum is a larger surgery than I had but you will be fine. I know others who have had their sternum removed. There is a young women at Sloan who had her sternum removed and is doing well today and cancer free. As I'm sure you know, it's a big surgery and you will need a lot of rest to heal. Is there anything specific you'd like to ask me? I will answer anything I can and be here to support you in any way you need <3
